Established 2011
Athena Teacher Training was established in 2011 to offer the Trinity Cert TESOL, the first step on the TEFL ladder. Since then, Athena has trained over 150 teachers who have travelled the globe to start their English teaching careers.
Athena has achieved a 100% pass rate and continues to attract the brightest trainees taking advantage of the opportunities in the industry.
In 2015 Athena Teacher Training received accreditation by Trinity College London to also offer the DipTESOL: the Diploma in English language teaching. As an accredited Trinity Diploma centre you can advance your experience of teaching and take the first step in becoming a DOS, Senior teacher or teacher trainer safe in the knowledge that you are doing so with one of the best in the business.

Teacher Trainers
John Kay is the Course Director at Athena Teacher Training.
John brings a phenomenal amount of experience, ability and enthusiasm to the team. He has over 25 years’ experience in teacher training and has been internationally published. John’s career has taken him to Greece, Romania, Poland, Russia, Belarus, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Ecuador to name but a few places.
John has a diploma in Neuro-linguistic programming, writes a regular blog on the British Council website and has been involved in creating a series of videos for the British Council, one of which you can view here. John oversees the Trinity CertTESOL and Diploma courses so you can be assured you will be in very capable hands.
Bournemouth
Located in the heart of Bournemouth, just a stone’s throw from the sandy beaches and a short walk from the centre of town with its bustling bistros and shops, we think our location is perfect. We are no more than 5 minutes by taxi from the travel interchange which consists of both train and coach stations. If you would rather drive, our postcode is BH2 5PG.
Bournemouth is a major destination for English language learners and offers a wealth of job opportunities for newly qualified teachers. Over the summer months up to 14,000 foreign students choose to study English in Bournemouth while during the off-season, approximately one third of this number remain to create a constant demand for qualified teachers in the Language schools. We estimate that at any one time there is demand for between 300 and 400 qualified teachers in the immediate area!
