Trinity CertTESOL

Get started in your TEFL career with a Trinity CertTESOL qualification.

Given the prolific nature of the language, the industry has become more wide-ranging and demand for quality teachers is rising.

Why do I need a qualification?

Jobs are constantly available, but the industry is starting to regulate itself more strictly and the days when a sub-standard teaching qualification would be enough to get a job are largely over. As a result of the increased competition and quality in the profession, two qualifications have emerged as industry leaders, one of which is the Trinity CertTESOL.

The Trinity course places a lot of importance on teaching practice and as far as we know, no other course offers more hours spent teaching real learners in a classroom environment.

The course also gives you the opportunity to experience what it is like to learn a language from scratch, placing you in the position of a student trying to learn English for the first time.

Whilst you may find cheaper courses that claim to offer you a teaching qualification in less time (or even online), when you take up your first teaching position with the Trinity CertTESOL behind you, you will be as well-prepared as it is possible to be.

Why should I consider the Trinity CertTESOL?

With possible job opportunities in virtually any country you can think of, (many of which pay substantially more than the national average of that country) a good TEFL qualification will increase your employability and professional standing in the UK and abroad. Positions within the industry can be full or part time and hours can often be flexible enough to suit your needs. Very few professions offer the opportunity to work abroad so easily but there are also numerous opportunities to be found in the UK.

English is spoken as a second language by over 200 million people and is recognised as an official language in 53 countries. It is an important skill for business people around the world and is often the working language for business meetings and large companies.

Opportunities within the industry can range from working with high-profile business people in blue-chip companies to teaching underprivileged children in less developed countries.

Course Description

The four week CertTESOL course is intensive but rewarding and is structured to ensure that you get the best from your time training to become a teacher. At the end of each week, you will have completed a number of assignments and tasks. Each week has been designed to complement the next and you will undertake assignments and mini-projects in a specific order to ensure that your learning is as seamless as possible.

Your course will consist of these 5 main units:

To give you a more rounded understanding of the topics covered, you won’t come across the five units above in the order they are presented here. Some aspects from different units may be taught alongside each other and it is beneficial that you learn some things before others.

At the end of the course, you will meet a representative from Trinity (the course validating body) who will ensure that you are ready to progress to teaching professionally.

Course Assessment

In order to graduate from the course, you must achieve a pass in each of the five units in the course description. Each unit is weighted differently but is no less important in ensuring that you pass the course. Four of the five units are assessed in house by ourselves but the materials assignment will be assessed by an external examiner from Trinity who will visit at the end of the course to ensure, amongst other things, that you are happy with the service we have provided you.

You will be given feedback on every lesson that you teach and our tutors will keep a close eye on your work and progress throughout the course. They will always be available to talk about any issues you might have.

Entry Requirements

No previous teaching experience is required, but a high level of spoken and written English and evidence of qualifications for entry to higher education are needed.* Trainees must be at least 18 years old and you will be required to bring copies of any educational certificates you may have on the first day of the course. Non-native English speakers require an IELTS score of 7.0 in all disciplines.

We remind candidates that the course is intensive and will require a large amount of time and commitment.
